One day Marc came to me and showed me a picture of the Optimist. A boxy looking boat that he and his wife Linda had sailed on years back. He was looking for a special birthday present for a special woman. I loved the shape of the boat and started working right away.
Marc knew he wanted the Optimist, and he pictured azure blue for the background. After talking to Marc a bit more, I got a couple more essential clues from him. Linda loves their cat, and the color yellow. This is how I started working. After the Optimist was on the canvas, and the yellow cat was on board, I added the buoy. Linda's name is hidden on it to symbolize the love and commitment that Marc wanted to express. The painting was kept secret and was a great success.
